Warrier Foundation ensures every child has a holistic ecosystem to thrive in. We enable a convivial educational atmosphere for 300 students at our Balamandiramsacross fourcentres, providing free schooling, infrastructure, computer literacy, language proficiency, nutritious meals & holistic all-round development through sports, yoga, meditation & cultural activities. In the past 15 years, we have consistently had more than 50 students graduate each year on an average. Today, some of our children are engineers, nurses and teachers among many other professions.
As on today, we have three Balamandirams across locations – one in Panvel that houses 35 young boys, the second in Thirunavaya that is home to more than 125 girls and the third in Mazhavannur that houses more than 45 boys.
The praises showered on them for their high values & attitude by their employers & families, reflects on our success! These children are, now, self-sufficient enough to serve themselves, support their families& contribute towards nation building. Thus, a 1000+ strong alumnae networkand more in future will be the torch-bearers for individual & social integration. We are building a universal family of children who will grow up into responsible adults contributing towards human rights & world reformation.
Vocational training camps
Through our camps, we work with corporate players in different sectors to identifyskill sets that are pertinent to industries and impart them to these youth. For eg we worked with Larsen & Toubro to skill youth in jobs including plumbing, masonry, welding, electrician, carpentry, etc. At our Universal Centre, our programmes focus on developing softer skills and computer literacy.Knowledge in yoga pranayama and spiritual awareness helps develop a well-rounded character in every participant.
Schools for children from rural areas
We work with government and quasi-government institutions to improve attendance at schools in tribal areas. Employing our learnings from running the Balamandirams over 15 years, we have set up facilities to impart knowledge and skills to aid them in building a life of dignity for themselves, and this is showing very encouraging results. In fact, Mr Madhavan, Managing Trustee of our Foundation, is the Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School at Thirunavaya in Kerala that has enrolled 1,000+ students.
Computer literacy
Our Balamandirams have in-house computer facilities that are open to deserving children from the immediate community and resident children. We have partnered with the Computer Society of India, and several engineering colleges and professional institutions to garner student volunteers in furthering the reach of computer education. We hope to be able to take this education to our projects in the tribal areas and remote areas so that more children can benefit from our facilities.
Cultural Impact
Warrier Foundation started a humble initiative titled Avyukt Arts to promote Indian classical dance and music among the youth and imbibe art into their way of thinking. It is a compulsory part of the curriculum for young children at the centres. In fact, we have also found a patron in Rohit Warrier, a student from USA who supports this program by performing percussion (Mridangam) at various events and collecting revenues which is used for charity.
