Free Housing
A large majority of Indians in smaller towns, villages and rural corners do not have a roof over their heads. Loss of the family’s bread-winner, calamities, poverty – theseare all reasons people lose their homes.
We, at Warrier Foundation, have taken a pledge to building 5000+ houses for lesser privileged families. We have also always believed in building sustainable communities. In line with that, these houses will be constructed as communities that will come together to become a strong support structure for all the residents. The residents will be trained to be self-sufficient in growing their own produce and transforming the living space into a community surrounded by loving and caring neighbours. What makes this unique is that the houses are given on lease so that once the family has been able to better their lot, the house may be handed over to the next deserving family.
The Foundation has handed 200 houses at locations including XXXXX in the past three months; and other projects are progressing rapidly.
Rehousing and Rehabilitation for Kerela Flood Victims
Over 2mn people were displaced from their homes due to the 2018 floods. Under its Free Housing initiative, Warrier Foundation has already undertaken rehabilitation and re-housing in the affected areas, including special attention towards children from orphanages and destitute homes by giving them shelter, food and basic healthcare. We are also constructing low-cost houses and offering construction support to re-build homes, communities and public facilities such as schools, hospitals etc.
Houses for the under privileged families & tribal people of Kerela
Within a short span of time, we have received over 1000 applications from poor families residing in India, and who are in dire need of a shelter over their heads. This project is aimed at providing low-cost housing to many under privileged families. In Anakatti we have built 250 houses for the poor and tribal people of the region. Additionally, we have handed over houses in Mazhvannoor (12 houses) and in Kumbidi (12 houses) to families affected by the flood.
